Blue Dog and Drew Brees

Southern Food and Beverage Museum is celebrating the work of Cajun artist, George Rodrigue with a twist. George Rodrique donated a Blue Dog and Drew Brees print and you can bid on it. Now this doesn't happen everyday...only when The Saints go to the SuperBowl.

The auction ends at high noon on Superbowl Sunday, February 7, so you can still catch your plane to Miami and make the game.

The silkscreen print is 32 x 19 and is autographed by George Rodrigue.

Starting Bid: $525. To bid just click on this link: SoFAB

Filthy Rich New Orleans

This a picture of my friend Beth. She is the owner of Filthy Rich of New Orlelans. It is a store that allows you to experience the Red Carpet treatment without going to Hollywood.

Filthy Rich is located a few steps away from my office at WHERE Magazine on Chartres Street in the French Quarter. Inside this pink and pink striped store ( 2 shades of pink) are world famous celebrity jewelry collections with The Hollywood Collection, Jacqueline Kennedy Collection, Museum Collection (including a Smithsonian line and Salvador Dali line) and a Contemporary Collection inspired by today's celebrities.

I remember when they were redoing the space. I peeked into the windows and marveled when I saw the bold and bright pink strips being painted in the walls. And then when Beth added the video screen to watch old movies, I knew I would love this store.

Beth is not your ordinary shop owner. By day she is a shop owner, by night she is a ref called Saint No Lady for the Big Easy Roller Girls, an all female roller derby team.
I never had an appreciation for Roller Derby until I watched Whip It, directed by Drew Barrymore. I keep thinking that it would be something fun for me to undertake minus the tattos and pink hair.

It would also be great exercise. Who am I kidding ...it's all about the glory of the win. I am still thinking about that possibility.

So go visit Beth and get your glam on. Her shop is located at 330 Chartres Street, call for store hours 504-522-0540. Oh did I mention that she is having a sale just in time for The SuperBowl and Mardi Gras. Jewelry for all my friends.
