June 27th Day of Prayer for the Gulf Coast

Join Louisiana's Statewide Prayer For The Oil Spill This Sunday, June 27th. | Intent.com

Tomorrow will be a great day because all of us will gather at some point in the day to pray for the speedy solution to the oil spill in the Gulf Coast. I just got off a conference call with leaders like Deepak Chopra, Lynn McTaggart and hundreds of other people who sent our intentions out for 3 things.

First to send positive intentions to the people of BP to find the solutions to the oil spill quickly.

Secondly, heal the rift rift between people about the oil spill and together we can create miracles with God's guidance.

Thirdly, that we heal the rift between us and nature. That together we can live together in harmony and joy.

So however you choose to worship I encourage you to spend 10 minutes and send those prayers, affirmations and positive energies out to the universe because God is bigger than all of us.

Relief in the Gulf Coast Telethon

I sit in front of my television and watch the images of our Gulf Coast. My heart feels heavy....I try to remain calm and not be angry. I am happy that people like Larry King and his entire crew are doing a telethon to raise money for all of us.

1.3 Million so far and it 's around 9:30 at night. The phones stay open till 2 AM.

I keep thinking how much more can Louisiana take? First Katrina and now this Crime against all of us by BP. Has big business lost its' soul for the all mighty dollar...is that all that matters these days?

What should we learn from this? What is the lesson that Mother Gaia is teaching us? Will We learn it in time? God, I hope so. Tonight I send out prayers to all the people effected by this BP disaster and I pray that we learn the lesson...quickly.

New Orleans is still Open

It Sunday afternoon in New Orleans. I just looked at the lead story on MSN.com and it's about the Gulf Coast and the oil spill. I keep looking at the page wondering how is this possible? Just a few short months ago We were celebrating as a City with the Superbowl win by the Saints.

You just never know what Life will bring. What are We supposed to learn from this? I keep asking the question...I am not sure. P and J Oyster House, America's oldest oyster house, located here in New Orleans just let every one of their employees go this week. My heart feels for everyone.

Sometimes, I wish that I was all powerful and that I would wish all of this away with a blink of an eye.

I spend alot of time in The French Quarter because of my job and this past Friday, there people every where enjoying New Orleans. That's the way it should be, without this overcast of fear of what will happen.

I am surprisingly not angry...I am of the belief that everything happens for a reason, even though during the process it can be challenging. The most powerful thing that I can do is send light to the people who are working on the problem so they will be guided in the correct solution.

So everyday I picture the oil rig and send light to it and Mother Gaia, that my friends is one way you can help.

Character of New Orleans

I am officially a character of New Orleans. Who knew that there was such a thing. Next Tuesday, I will join 139 other characters of New Orleans at The Windsor Court to celebrate. It should be interesting to see who the other people are.

I know one of the characters...my friend famous New Orleans' artist Martin Welch. Now, I can understand why he is a New Orleans' character. He and his partner Tim are both characters of the highest degree.

What does that mean?....I don't know. I just know that I love to be around both of them because they are full of life and they make me laugh

In fact they are the ones who nominated me for this honor. So stay tuned for results from the event. I need to remember to take pictures.

A Poem For The Big Easy

It's been a while seen I have written my blog...I just haven't been moved to write. Sure there have been lots of things going on. This is the Big Easy, but trust me when I say there is nothing easy about this city. I got an email yesterday from my niece Blair who has written a poem about New Orleans. It seems to explain my mood lately....

NEW ORLEANS
By Blair Brown
(Inspired by the format of Chicago by Carl Sandburg)

Saint City, Crescent City
The Birth Place of Jazz;
Singing, stormy, soulful
The Big Easy

They tell me you are corrupt and I believe them,
I know of your crimes and your lore.
And they say you are a city of sleaze and I answer:
yes, I’ve been on Bourbon Street.
And they say you are rainy and cold and I say:
yes, I remember Katrina.
And to they who deride my city I have only this to say:
Is there a city more alive and upbeat? A city whose
people need no reason to celebrate.
In the face of adversity so joyful so colorful so bright

Diverse and so free like many birds in a tree
Chirping in a backdrop of gloom
Dancing
Playing
Singing
Rejoycing
Partying
Under the sea level but heads held up high
and proud,
Rebuilding again becoming reborn like a
phoenix
You are the Saint City, Crescent City, The Birth Place of Jazz,
Singing, stormy, soulful, The Big Easy

The Roadfood Festival in New Orleans This Weekend

This is the first time I am learning about Roadfood Festival. So, I can't tell you about the Festiival, except the information that has been presented by the Festival itself. I included information from their website...Roadfood.com.

Listen, if its' food and its' New Orleans..It will be another wonderful Festival.

We will think up all kinds of excuses to have a gathering of people to eat, drink and make merry.

The New Orleans Roadfood Festival kicks off with a true Roadfood party
featuring the best barbecue from Alabama, Camp Washington Cincinnati
chili, cracklin's from Cajun country, all the shrimp and oysters you
can eat, an open bar, KJoe's celebrated Creole bread pudding, and
pralines made on the spot.

The highlight of the party will be the presentation of the first annual Roadfood Blue Plate Award to Anthony and Gail Uglesich, who made their longstanding family cafe into a beacon that attracted culinary pilgrims to New Orleans from around the
world.

It all takes place in a French Quarter setting outsiders rarely
get to experience: the historic Boucvalt House, a three-story Greek
Revival home built in 1841, now meticulously restored to antebellum grandeur.

This event is sold out, but the rest of the events still have openings.

Here is how it all started:
Roadfood.com was conceived in 2000 as a website devoted to finding the most memorable local eateries along the highways and back roads of America. The entire Roadfood Team has contributed thousands of hours of their personal time to create and enhance Roadfood.com so that you, the user, can enjoy the many features of the site. Unlike many dotcom ventures, Roadfood.com is an entirely volunteer effort launched with no expectation of ever making money.

It's Our Birthday Get Busy

What? You Thought We Were in Our Forties

Actually, We are only 1 year old. On March 11, We are celebrating our First Birthday at Le Boulevard Marketplace. It seems like yesterday when Marque Ann and I huddled together and decided that this would be our next adventure.
We have survived hurricanes together, we have visited Sedona together, we have danced in the French Quarter with strange men together (No, I am not sharing that story, let your imagination run wild).
Then our friend Ann joined us and it became the 3 Musketeers.

So what better way to celebrate than to throw a party with all our friends at Le Boulevard Marketplace. The other day I walked around and looked on with amazement at all the wonderful vendors who have been drawn to Le Boulevard Marketplace.

When you think about it, it really is a miracle that a ugly K & B building has been transformed into a wonderland of local talent with artists, handmade jewelry, furniture, antiques, pottery, lamps, handmade candles, draperies and the list goes on and on.

The adventure will continue on Thursday night with champagne and yummy food made by someone else ( yes, I hear the sigh of relief).
In our boutique, there will special prices on all the jewelry...50% off. Don't tell my husband, I like him to think that I always make a profit. There are some wonderful glass art pieces by Paulette Lizano, that I know you will want to buy to add to your collection.

So mark the date, Thursday, March 11 6-9PM and come visit, Marque Ann and I may show you some of our dance moves.
